The Catwalk Comes Up North

September 21, 2017

Liverpool Fashion Week returns for its ninth year running and in a new location, Fusion, Fleet Street.

The most influential UK fashion week outside of London will be hosting a three-day event exhibiting a variety of designers.

Starting on October 2nd 2017, the show will also feature fashion expert Gok Wan and fashion journalist Liz Jones as the show reporter.

Speaking before the event, show director Amanda Moss said: "Fashion is for everyone, we were the first to champion models of all sizes and we continue to promote body confidence".

Here is the lowdown on what to expect from Liverpool Fashion Week:

Opening Night- Couture Glamour and Gok Wan

Liverpool will be showcasing independent couture designers on the 2nd October, including many international brands. Additionally, Gok Wan will be the guest DJ.

Named the highlight of the night, Verve & Co, a Los Angeles company will be unveiling their Autumn/Winter collection.

However, the international designs don't stop there as we have Zimbabwean, Flencirose, who will be displaying her latest womenswear. Likewise, African designer Diana Ntimane will be showing Akoni's new season collection.

And award-winning, Mission Kawaii a Japanese inspired brand is set to launch their first collection.

Accessories and childrenswear will also play a part in the opening night.

Second Night - New and Emerging Talent

The new talent night is not to be missed, as you will get the chance to see six independent designers show their unseen collections.

Liverpool based, Evelina Collection, is included in this lineup focusing on "exquisite and high-quality fabrics".

Immanuel Clothing, fresh from New York Fashion Week February 2017 will be revealing their new collection.

Joining them will be controversial (but comedic) T-shirt company, Uncommon Routes, who famously created the P.Don character- a satirical take on President Donald Trump.

Last Night - Boutique and High Street

To round up the show, your favourite high street brands will be showcasing the latest trends.

The night will boast John Lewis, M&S, Boux Avenue and Peacocks, with the opportunity to see some clothing before sales.

Which means if you like what you see you can easily pop into the brands local Liverpool store.

Backstage the team is overseen by head of makeup Emma Lampkin and head of creative hair styling Andrew Joseph Manion.

Liverpool Fashion Week is in association with BMD Law and Buddha Therapies and supported by Infrared Sauna Spa, Skinov8 Aesthetics, The Christmas Decorators and Amalia Italian.
